Rogier Elshout (Rotterdam, 19 June 1984) developed his interest in public policy and “making the world a better place” from an early age. Hence he went to study public administration, but found his challenges outside the university. Working for the Greens (GroenLinks) in the Dutch parliament, he developed himself as a generalist who rapidly extracts the core of a dossier and turns that into an appealing story. As Youth Representative European Affairs he felt at home in a classroom as well as at a table with ministers as well as in front of a camera. These skills helped him greatly when he ran for the European Parliament (#6 (2009)) to help the greens grow.
Instead of debates that focus on differences, he tries to get into a constructive dialogue that delivers solutions and understanding. Nonetheless, that may be very sharp and even on the edge. He is direct, doesn’t take “this is the way it is” for an answer and likes to ask “what do we really want to achieve?” Nothing is sacred. But thanks to his experience in lobby, his enthusiasm and ability to motivate people, he manages to challenge people to reach more effective, honest and meaningful levels. Be it as teacher, interviewer or trainer.
His hobbies include cycling, long travels by train and music from Brahms to Beats.

Debatleider/presentator

Voor een bijzondere wending. Voor dialoog in plaats van hakken in het zand. Voor humor. Voor scherpe interventies. Zonder heilige huisjes. Tikkie brutaal, maar met stijl. Fris. Fruitig. Frontaal.
